Service Providers are Flourishing at the Shops at Water’s Edge

Water’s Edge Resort and Spa has found that professional service companies are the most desirable storefront and office owners at the Shops at Water’s Edge, much more than retail stores. For years, Water’s Edge in Westbrook, CT has been the renowned resort and spa on the CT shoreline, treasured by vacationers and locals alike. Its expansive retail spaces, which Water’s Edge constructed to allow visitor and event guests a more all-inclusive vacation getaway experience, are just one of its many glowing attributes. The idea was to entice local, or even not-so-local retailers, to open up shop at Water’s Edge and create a welcoming and exciting environment to accommodate resort guests and those visiting for special events. Somewhat unexpectedly, the retail shops have not been the ones to flourish at the Shops at Water’s Edge. The businesses most rewarded by the closeness to the resort have been service providers. Businesses like Twin Networks, a technology solutions provider, have taken advantage of the stunningly beautiful waterfront office space and created a hub of expanding service industry businesses.

Twin Networks, established in 2006, is a full-service custom network solution creator for the public sector and corporations. CEO Christopher Brown saw the availability at the Shops at Water’s Edge and knew that it would be the perfect space for Twin Networks to grow and thrive. Previously, the business did not have an official space to call its own, primarily working out of Chris’s home. Since opening on Route 1 in Westbrook in May of this year, Twin Networks has seen a doubling in staff size and has even expanded into the first floor of the building, sharing space with Ocean Breeze Frozen Yogurt Café. Says Chris, “It must be that fresh ocean air and warm sunshine that makes IT services so exciting!”

Chris was drawn to the space at Water’s Edge for its magnificent ocean views and proximity to local shops and businesses as well as larger companies and clients. Now, he couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome, as the shops and companies have become a network of their own. There are of course still many retail stores such as Michele – A Bridal Boutique, but the Shops at Water’s Edge has become so much more than just a mall. It has developed into an essential intellectual resource for local residents, companies, and tourists who now have even more incentive to travel to Westbrook, CT.
